DIY Marble Dipped Mugs

Hey guys this is Angela and I am back for another DIY. everyone knows how to make DIY Sharpie Mugs, but not everyone knows how to make DIY Marble Mugs. Final Product:

DIY Marble Dipped Mugs by @cydconverse

SUPPLIES:

  • Basic white ceramic mugs
  • Nail polish (the dollar stuff is fine)
  • Wooden skewers or toothpicks
  • Warm water
  • A disposable pan or bucket
  • Nail polish remover
  • Cotton balls or cotton pads

Here Are The Steps:

  1. Fill a disposible pan with warm temperature water (fill the pan with water depending on how high you want the color to go to)
  2. If you are making multiple mugs, make a mark so you can fill it to the same spot each time
  3. Then, add your nail polish by pouring it onto the surface of the water, adding more or less depending on if you’d like more or less white to show through your marble pattern
  4. Use a toothpick or a skewer to rag around the nail polish on the surface of the water (this will create the marble effect on the mug)
  5. Submerge your mug into the nail polish water (make sure it goes straight in and back out to crate the water effect)
  6. Place your mug on a clear surface to dry (avoid rubbing the surface until it is dry)
  7. For each mug you’ll need to dump the water and start over (even if  you aren’t changing color) *we do this to make sure the nail polish doesn’t set and get gloppy*
  8. Once it’s dry, a super light and thin coat of dishwasher safe ModPodge will make the mug protected when washing

Now you can have your own personal designed pillows around your home!

  • Food colouring
  • Water
  • Cups

Steps:

  1. Pick out any flowers of your choice. Just make sure that they’re white because that is mandatory in order for this to work.
  2. Fill the cups with water.
  3. Choose your desired colour that you want your flowers to be and then add the food colouring.
  4. Let time take its course for a few days and soon the colour will kick in .

What a perfect decoration for the spring time!

5. A Home For Your Pet

  • A pillow/ blanket
  • Decorative tools

Steps:

  1. First you will need to take a pair of scissors and cut off the opening flaps of the box.
  2. Take your t-shirt and put it over the box so that the neck hole is where the flaps of the box were cut out.
  3. Make your pet feel more comfortable by placing a pillow or a blanket at the bottom.
  4. Don’t forget to decorate! You can use paint, markers, stickers etc.

Why spend your money when you can use things you have at home that will make your pet just as happy?

Angela’s Top 5 DIYS!!!

Hey guys! This week we have been given the assignment to make a top 5 list. I have chosen to do my top 5 list about my choice of the Top 5 DIYS. Let’s get started!

Criteria:

  • Easy To Make
  • Affordable
  • Safe To Make
  • Fun
  • Time Consuming

1. OREO Milkshake
Info:An OREO Milkshake is a quick and easy snack to make when in a rush and looking for adrenaline. All you need to make it is 6 or 7 Oreo’s, a cup and a half of milk, three scoops of ice cream (any flavour), whipped cream, a blender, a straw and a glass for your milkshake. All you have to do is plug-in the blender and pour in the Oreo’s, the milk and the ice cream. Make sure you blend it until it’s smooth. Finally pour it into the cup and add the straw and some whipped cream. Voila! It’s ready to be served! To get a visual perspective of this DIY, click the link to watch a video: https://youtu.be/_PqVATOa2ok

2. Wire Rings

Info: If you are feeling crafty and you would like to make jewelery, try making wire rings! It is way to hard to explain how to make an infinity wire ring verbally so watch the video from the link down below to learn how to make one. https://youtu.be/oaTk-_0AyE0

3. Sharpie Mugs

Info: Looking for a way to customize your mugs? Try making sharpie mugs! Sharpie mugs are extremely easy to make but they are also easy to mess up so follow the instructions carefully. All you need is a mug, a sharpie, an oven, a timer, white vinegar and a cotton pad . Start by taking the vinegar and pouring a bit on the cotton pad. Now, clean the mug with the cotton pad to take off any oils or dirt that may be on the mug.Make sure your fingers do not touch the surface where you will be drawing. Start drawing! Make sure that you don’t make any mistakes or change your mind when doing this DIY. If you do, you can use your cotton pad and vinegar to clean it but it will not work up to 5 minutes after your work has been drawn. I recommend practicing what you want to write or draw on a piece of paper before you draw on the mug. When you are happy with your design, pop your mug into a un-pre-heated oven for 30 minutes at 350°F. Turn off you oven after 30 minutes and crack the door open. DO NOT take the mug out just then so it can cool completely and that there won’t be any cracks. You can bake your mug twice to really set in the sharpie drawings. Once your mug is out, it will look exactly the same but there will be a glaze on it and your drawings will be permanent.

Click the link for a video on how to make A Sharpie Mug: https://youtu.be/I5fMiUeG5DM

4. Watercolor Sweatshirts

Info: A watercolor sweatshirt is basically a white sweatshirt with watercolor paint on it. All you will need to make it is a sweatshirt, a watercolor dye kit, a plate, a sponge, a cup filled with water, a paintbrush and a piece of cardboard. First, take you cardboard and put it in between the front and the back of your sweatshirt so the water doesn’t soak through. Dampen your shirt with your sponge and the water. Mix the watercolors that you like on the plate. Paint your shirts with your paintbrush, when done leave it to dry. And you are done!

Click the link for a visual point of view of these Watercolor Sweatshirts: https://youtu.be/72PNOv5ZexM

5. DIY Balloon Chocolate Bowls

Info: A DIY chocolate bowl is made from chocolate, balloons, ice cream and your favourite toppings. As extras, you will need an ice cream scoop, a needle, a plate, a bowl, a spoon, parchment paper, an oven tray, microwave and a freezer. First of all, lay a sheet of parchment paper onto the oven tray. Melt some chocolate in a bowl in the microwave for 2 minutes and stir it every 10 seconds. Take the spoon and make mini puddles of chocolate on the parchment paper to be a base for the bowl. Blow up a balloon to a small size and dip it in the chocolate. Do this to all the balloon bowls you make. Put the balloons over top of the mini puddles and stick the tray in the freezer for about 1 hour. After taking the tray out, pop the balloons and peel them out of the chocolate bowls. Peel the bowls of the parchment paper and plate them. Fill the bowls with ice cream and other toppings and it will be ready to serve! Instructions:

  1. Mix equal quantities of glue and water in a bowl to make your paper-mâché mix. Make sure to stir the mix well
  2.  Hang up a long string of ribbon with tape (about 90cm long)
  3. Cut up some pieces of ribbon to the size of 30cm, to match the amount of piñata’s you will make
  4. Cut the newspaper into equal sized strips, you will need enough strips of paper to cover the balloon in three layers
  5. Blow up the balloon and tie it tightly in a knot
  6. To secure the knot, tie it again with ribbon
  7. Dip a stip of newspaper into the paper-mâché mix. Make sure when you glue the strip on, it does not wrinkle

  16. Now decorate the egg by gluing the crepe paper onto the egg (alternate between different colors)
  17. Repeat all the way to the top of the paper-mâché egg
  18. Poke a hole into the top of the egg
  19. Take a piece of ribbon and knot it at one end
