Hey guys this is Angela and I am back for another DIY. everyone knows how to make DIY Sharpie Mugs, but not everyone knows how to make DIY Marble Mugs. So this week I will show you guys how to make a DIY Marble Mug. This is a sweet, simple, inexpensive projects that is so fun and addicting. Let’s get started!
Final Product:
SUPPLIES:
- Basic white ceramic mugs
- Nail polish (the dollar stuff is fine)
- Wooden skewers or toothpicks
- Warm water
- A disposable pan or bucket
- Nail polish remover
- Cotton balls or cotton pads
Here Are The Steps:
- Fill a disposible pan with warm temperature water (fill the pan with water depending on how high you want the color to go to)
- If you are making multiple mugs, make a mark so you can fill it to the same spot each time
- Then, add your nail polish by pouring it onto the surface of the water, adding more or less depending on if you’d like more or less white to show through your marble pattern
- Use a toothpick or a skewer to rag around the nail polish on the surface of the water (this will create the marble effect on the mug)
- Submerge your mug into the nail polish water (make sure it goes straight in and back out to crate the water effect)
- Place your mug on a clear surface to dry (avoid rubbing the surface until it is dry)
- For each mug you’ll need to dump the water and start over (even if you aren’t changing color) *we do this to make sure the nail polish doesn’t set and get gloppy*
- Once it’s dry, a super light and thin coat of dishwasher safe ModPodge will make the mug protected when washing
