Easter Egg Piñata’s

Easter is right around the corner and the best part about Easter is all the candy and sweets! All kids like candy, but they get candy all the time. So why not try something new and make Easter eggs-tra special (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?) for your kids or siblings by incorporating candy in a more entertaining way? If you would like to make Easter more enjoyable for the kids, try making Easter Egg Piñata’s!

Materiels:

  • Mini Balloons Or Large Balloons
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Newspaper
  • Ribbon
  • Crepe Paper (in at least 3 shades)
  • Candy
  • Water
  • Tape
  • Needle

Instructions:

  1. Mix equal quantities of glue and water in a bowl to make your paper-mâché mix. Make sure to stir the mix well
  2.  Hang up a long string of ribbon with tape (about 90cm long)
  3. Cut up some pieces of ribbon to the size of 30cm, to match the amount of piñata’s you will make
  4. Cut the newspaper into equal sized strips, you will need enough strips of paper to cover the balloon in three layers
  5. Blow up the balloon and tie it tightly in a knot
  6. To secure the knot, tie it again with ribbon
  7. Dip a stip of newspaper into the paper-mâché mix. Make sure when you glue the strip on, it does not wrinkle
  8. Cover the balloon and when done once, repeat again twice more
  9. Leave a round space at the top of the balloon near 2cm away from the knot
  10. Leave overnight to dry using the ribbon to hang the balloon.
  11. When it’s dry pop the balloon where the knot is, by poking it with a needle
  12. Remove the balloon from the inside of the paper-mâché egg
  13. Using the small hole at the top, stuff the paper-mâché egg with treats
  14. Once you are done with filling the egg, tape the hole with the tape
  15. Cut snips on one side of the crepe paper to give the egg texture
  16. Now decorate the egg by gluing the crepe paper onto the egg (alternate between different colors)
  17. Repeat all the way to the top of the paper-mâché egg
  18. Poke a hole into the top of the egg
  19. Take a piece of ribbon and knot it at one end
  20. To finish the piñata, push the knot through to hole so you may hang it up

Finally, enjoy your Easter Egg Piñata and have fun!
